Reviews and Ratings
The hotel provided a clean and well-appointed room, but the noise from the road was bothersome at times. The Wi-Fi signal was also quite weak in the bedrooms. The service was friendly and welcoming, although it lacked some attentiveness. The location was convenient for exploring nearby towns and enjoying dog walks. The dining experience offered delicious food but was slightly hindered by young and disorganized staff. Overall, a comfortable stay with some room for improvement.
The hotel is located in a good rural area yet close to major roads, making it convenient for exploring the surrounding attractions. The rooms are small but nicely presented and clean, with a charming garden view. The service is friendly but may seem a bit disorganized at times. The dining experience offers quality food, although some aspects could be improved. Overall, it's a homely place that needs a bit of upkeep, perfect for those looking to explore the area's historic sites with good value summer deals.
The hotel's location is perfect for exploring Devon and Cornwall, easily accessible off the A30 with very friendly staff and first-class service. The dining experience was delightful, offering a variety of excellent options. However, the rooms were disappointing and smelt of dogs, which I think could use some improvements.
I had a wonderful stay at the hotel. The rooms were spacious, clean, and had a private balcony which was perfect for my dog to enjoy some fresh air. However, the Wi-Fi in the bedrooms was poor, and there was a lingering smell of dogs in some areas. The service was friendly and helpful, although it could have been a bit more welcoming. The location was ideal for exploring Devon and Cornwall, despite the tired appearance of the converted cottage. The dining experience was good, with fresh salads, but a bit slow. Overall, it was a comfortable and friendly stay.
My stay at the hotel was quite pleasant overall. The rooms, although a bit noisy due to the A30 passing by, were comfortable and made me feel at home with a very good laid-back approach. The king-size bed, or as they call it, 'super king,' was really cozy. The service, even though they ran out of scallops after taking our order, was excellent, with friendly and well-presented staff. The location was ideal for exploring Devon and Cornwall, being close to great attractions like Okehampton and Launceston. The dining experience in the beautiful dining room was fantastic, especially the beautifully presented and tasty dishes. However, being in an 'annexe' named Fisherman's Cottage was a bit of a downside. Despite this, the hotel is still a great pick for those wanting to explore the north Devon and north-east Cornwall coast as well as Dartmoor.
